I was gonna add a CD-rw and then I once I disconnected the IDE cable I realized that I couldn't till I got a new IDE cable. So I reconnected everything back to normal. Now my Windows 2000 Pro takes 2mins longer to load. ????? It takes my system 2min 48 sec to fully load.

What you think?

Soyo Dragon + kt266 (SY-k7V)
Athlon 1600 OC to 1800 at 32C.
1024mb PC2100 Mushkin
Geforce2 Ti500 (gainward)
IBM 60 gig IDE (7200)

Nothing was changed in OS , maybe something was altered in BIOS , the BIOS still reads the Primary master as my IBM harddrive and Secondary master as CD-rom like it was intially. And no jumpers were change. The HD is hooked to the first plug on IDE cable and CD is hooked to another IDE cable on the last plug in.

Sorry I am new to computers.

I used to get a long ass load up time and I fixed it when I took out the ethernet card in there. There was a windows update recently that I think fixed the problem since I have the card back in now.

In the scrolling blue Windows 2000 screen. If I take out the CD-rom it loads like normal. I tried using another IDE cable and CD-rom and still whenever there is a 2nd device it loads slow now. Before the Win2000 screen would take probally around 15secs now it takes 90secs.

is it an old cdrom drive? if so, check and see if there's a cd in it. Having a cd in the drive will slow down the boot time quite a bit in an old drive.

Its a 4 month old Sony CD-rom and I swaped it out with a CD-rw to test also . Same affect. Now if I have no CD-rom drive then it loads like it did before I messed with the cables. To my knoledge everything is back to default> I think something in my Bios is wrong now. But it does read the HD and Cd-rom as working. It happend after I disconnected IDE cable and put them back in. Either BIOS or somehow slightly damaged something. I use a ESD strap though.
