What Could Be Wrong With His Computer?

I just got a call from a friend that lives about a hour away. He wants me to check out what's wrong with his computer.

He says he turned it on, then it turned off by itself and he smells a burnt smell.

He says now it doesn't even turn on anymore. What could've burned?

1) CPU
2) MOTHERBOARD
3) POWER SUPPLY
4) OTHER

I first thought the fan came off during shipping and CPU fried, but then.. it should at least power up right?
If it's the motherboard, how can the motherboard fry?
Man.. if someone can give me a good answer.. I don't have to drive 2 hours (back n forth).

I would plump for the psu!
take a spare one with you just to see if it makes things right!

Fan in the PSU probably froze up and the PSU self destructed. Very common.
