What could be causing whacky video gamma?

Just did a fresh reinstall of WinXP Pro SP1 and updated all the pre SP2 service packs. I have two systems sitting side by side which are practically identcial, and both went through the exact same WinXP installs, sharing all programs after that from a networked machine.

The only difference between the two machines are the graphics cards. One is running a X850XTPE, one is running a 6800Ultra. The 6800U appears to have crazy gamma while the X850 shows video's normally.

Is there some setting I somehow messed up and/or do not know about?

This happens when using Windows Media Player, or Divx Player.

Do you have the newest Nvidia drivers (77.72) for the 6800? You have to restore the factory defaults to correct the gamma issue. Personally I just am using the previous revision of their drivers (71.89) as a result of artifacts and weird graphics problems in some of my games.

Does it only happen when you turn on a video (not game), does it look like a crappy cartoon? Because I have that problem with my older comp. Its using a 9800xt and has all the latest bios, the video card has been doing this since catalyst 5.6 (I have 5.7 now). I have no clue whats wrong because it only happens on certain videos and not others. I have no idea whats wrong. Sorry

Creideike was right, popping back to the last drivers fixed it in a snap.
