What could be causing this? Sometimes when I plug in PSU it just flashes

I have an OCZ 520w powerstream, sometimes when I plug in the powercord the PSU just flashes and begins to start the fan and such, and then stops after a second, it does this over and over until I unplug it.

I think it must be a loose connection or something because it only happens when I've moved my pc around alot (such as working inside on it while it's lying down and then uprighting it).

What could be loose in there causing that behavior???

I have heard this when someone puts the E plug in the ATX square 12V CPU molex
I didnt think it could be done, but apparently it can

It's not that in my case... It seems to only happen when the case gets shaken a bit

perhaps the fan is thermally controlled
the fan may be given just below the startup voltage and when you move it around, it kinda push-start it

Is the PSU set to 120V or 230?
Hows your wall ower?
Heavy HSF unit may be moving not fully seated CPU
Are PCI cards seated fullly all the way down.
Have you checked CPU for bent or missing pins?
SATA HDD plugs are notorious for bad connection on power side
Then again, could just be bad PSU - have you tried another?

Is it possible that when the 24 pin connector comes loose it could cause that? That's what I thought it might be because the first time it happened I checked it and it was loose so I pushed it down and problem solved. The consecutive times I did the same and although I did not notice any loose'ness' it seemed to have fixed it. (or moving the mobo did anyway)

yes, that is very possible.

Next time you unplug the 24-pin conector, inspect it and make sure each of the terminals is fully inserted in the connector body. Next, give a gentle tug on each one to make sure it is locked in place. Then when you plug it in, watch carefully to see if any of them back out. (Note: There is a catch on the 24-pin connector that should make it impossible for the connector to come loose with movement. Make sure you are plugging it in all the way and that latch is engaging)

Beyond that, if moving the computer seems to bring this problem about, you can rest assured something is loose. check everything that plugs into a connector, slot, etc. (including the CPU/HS)

Good Luck!
