Hi there, a couple days ago, my computer started to refuse to boot. When I press the power button, all the fans and lights come on, and the drives spin up, but there is no beep, and no display. I'd reset the BIOS several times to no avail, re-seat the ram sticks (then took one out and left just one in), unplug and replug the ATX power cord. Then once in a long time, randomly the computer would just boot up. When it does, the BIOS settings are all gone, and the date and time are reset (Jan 1, 2001). I've even tried swapping out the power supply with a brand new one, still same result.
What could be causing this problem? The configuration of the computer is as follows: Iwill KK266 v1.2, Duron 600 (not oc'ed), Radeon 32ddr (agp), crucial pc133 256mb, antec p303 300w psu, tekram 390-u3w, netgear NIC..
This has never happened before this week, but now I avoid shutting off my computer in fear of not being able to bring it back on. Could my motherboard be dying? Could the CMOS battery be dead? what could be causing this?
thanks!
