What core is this?

I just got a X800GT PCI-E, popped off the heatsink, and it doesn't appear to be an R423, R430, or R480. I can't provide a picture since my camera can't take a picture that close at a great quality but I do have the number code. Here it goes:

215RBMAGA12F
GG1179.1
0531AA
TAIWAN

Is it an R531 core if one exists? There are absolutely no R4** markins whatsoever. BTW, it's a Sapphire card. It probably only has 8 pipelines unlocked but it appears the R531 has 12 pixel pipelines. Or, would it be possible to unlock 16 via a hardmod, it appears the card is laser cut.

I will use ATitool. However, I believe ATItool just reads the core off the BIOS. Example, ATItool said my R360 9800 Pro was an R350 because all 9800 Pro BIOS are R350. So, my card is flashed with an X800GT BIOS which will probably read R430 since thats what most X800GT BIOS are. However, that BIOS doesn't necessarily reflect what the core really is. And as mentioned about, my core doesn't have any set R4** series stamped on it.

i read that before also, i was just trying to help, i think the later model saphires were the R360 cores, same as used in the 9800 XT's

It's possible "0531AA" indicates the year and week of manufacture. I tried looking thru B3D's 3D Table for R4x0 and R5x0 die shots, but none match yours. All I (vaguely) know is the A12 signifies various spins or fixes to the core.

Maybe you can take a look at some R4x0 die shots and guesstimate which one yours is closest to in size.

I guess one way to tell if you have a R5x0 core is to use 3DMark to reveal the device cap(abilitie)s: SM3 is a dead giveaway. Maybe even an info page in ATI's Control Panel or CCC? But there's no real comparable R5x0 core so substitute as an 8-pipe card. RV530 has 12 pixel shader units, but arranged in only four "pipelines."
