Hi,
i'd like to buy some computer speakers but i have no clue what is good out there now. my budget is about $250max (if it is cheaper, it is better). i mainly game but i also watch couple movies. i have a sb x-fi. what do you advice me to get?

without going home theater audio.. the best sound quality you'll be able to get are the Klipsche Promedia 2.1's..
logitech has some 5/1 systems but they're sound quality is the suck with absolutely NO mids in my logitech z-2300 and x-530. only boomy bass and squeaky highs

Take a look at logitech z-5500's and klipsch pro media 5.1's.

Not sure about the 2300's, however the x-530's definitely do not do it for me. The z-5500 is worlds better than the 530's.

Sound quality-wise, you will get much better bang for the buck from headphones. I recommend the Sennheiser HD595, to get similar quality in speakers you'd have to spend thousands.

Those 5500s are sold out everywhere and newegg wont recieve stock until an ETA of 2/23.

To repeat DO NOT look at newegg.com on 2/23/07... (runs to stand outside newegg.com in an eLine to get hands on Z-5500's...) hehehe

Your own ears are the best way to chose any speakers. Try listening to speakers at a brick-and-mortar store (if you have the option).
