What components would build the most stable system?

I am looking to build a system for vidoe editing, and I am interested in having good performance, but with rock solid stability.

There have been several complaints with VIA chipsets and a big Linux/AMD AGP bug was discovered (Slashdot Link), so I am wondering if Intel would be more stable?

I have a 3Com 10/100 Nic, a SB Audigy Platinum, and plan to re-use my dual head Matrox G450 and my Antec SX1000 but upgrade the power supply. This system is going to be used for video editing so more storage is a bonus as well as a fast CD-RW and DVD drive.

Go nuts, I want to see how the anandtech readers would build an ultra-stable workstation rather than a blazing gaming machine on a $1000 budget.

Thanks.
Loren.

i do a lot of video capture/editing myself, and i also have comparable AMD and Intel systems (AMD T-Bird 1.4 and Intel P4 1.5). i must say that capturing and editing is actually smoother and faster on my Intel system.

so anyway, my vote goes for Intel.
