I have recently had a system die. I thought I was going to be able to use the core parts that I have, but that appears to not be the case. What I am trying to figure out is what components I should buy:

1. Motherboard: looking at the SiS655TX chipset when they come out or if someone can recommend something?
2. CPU: Which P4: 2.4C, 2.6C, 2.8C? or should I be looking at AMD possibly?
3. Memory: PC3200 512MB (2x256) or PC4000 512MB (2x256), but higher CL?

1. If you want budget I would look at a i865 motherboard with the PAT hack.
2. The 2.4C and 2.6C overclock the best out off all the P4s.
3. PC4000 if you want to overclock, otherwise I would stay with PC3200.

Good luck!

I recently build a new system

1- Asus A7N8X DLX refurb from newegg ($60)
2- OEM Athlon XP Barton 2500+ ($85)
3- Cooler Master 7 lite ($16)
4- 512 DDR Buffalo Winbond PC3200 ($96)

I am currently running it at 200x11 equivalent to Athlon 3200+. The only bad thing is that I have to run the memory as single channel or the system crashes
