What was the best hardware-upgrade you did for your game and what game was it?

Me, I went from a 4870 to a 5870 and it changed my finishing places in UT3 TDM & DM. (rig2 in sig)

I went from a Yorkfield to a Bloomfield and it was a nice boost but the video card was more significant :)

Punting to General Hardware. Go long!

Vid card upgrade always trumps all :) Unless you have an obvious bottleneck... like 512 MB of RAM in your entire system :p

For me it was either going from an AMD 2200+ to a C2D e6300, or going from a 8800gts to a gtx260. Going from the gtx260 to this 5850 was a nice jump, but not as significant as the previous I dont think

Went from a 7800GS to a 9800GTX+. That was a huge upgrade. Then upgrading from a 9800GTX+ to a 5870 was another decent bump but not a huge but I can finally turn everything up in Crysis.

From 400W power supply to 1000W power supply . I got 2.5 X the power :)

Back when I used to be a Battlefield 2 addict there were various nice upgrades. . . 6800 Ultra to x1900 really helped, the X-Fi's 3D headphone surround sound was a huge unfair advantage over on-board audio. . . but probably most important was the monitor change from 1280x1024 to widescreen 1680x1050.

Video card upgrades: Biggest jump would be no-3D (software renderer only) to having hardware 3D back in 1998.

n52 gamepad. Everything useful I needed, with a compact footprint.

I did a full system upgrade from a P3 733 w/ a GeForce 2 video card to a P4 2.4c @ 3.0GHz w/ 6600GT. That was definitely the biggest jump I've ever made and my first attempt at overclocking.
