What compatability issues does a Raedon have?

Hear about em, but not in any depth. Any first hand experiences? Clarifications? Shopping and don't want to get shafted.....again.

ATi's Windows 2000 drivers are poor at this stage, although they are supposedly working on an update. Also there is a game which has just come out called Mercedes Beinz Truck Racing. It experiences severe artifacts and Z-buffer errors such that it is unplayable.

Other than that I hear the drivers are pretty good.

They already have the special purpose beta drivers out for Win2k, it improves the performance quite a bit, but nothing counts until its official.

I have the 32 ddr Radeon and love it. Woulcnt trade it for anything. Just make SURE you get the latest drivers (3056 officail, 3063 "beta&quot😉 I use the 3056, and have no problems. But if you use whats shipped, 3044 in my case, jeezle will you have problems! 2D works/looks great, but 3D will give you random lockups with 3044. Anyways, check ATI's website, they have a good FAQ/known problems list. Like I said though, I wouldnt get rid of my Radeon for anything (unless someone wants to trade for a 64 ddr radeon...🙂...)

i find myself spending more time playin Q3, UT and HL/CS more than anything else at which radeon excels at. as of late i started gettin into diablo2, but that game blows chunks in d3d, on any other card for that matter.somehow i cant really tell a disticntive difference between directDraw and glide mode. maybe i should pay a bit more attention to 'special effects'? NOLF runs like utter crap, dont ask why :Q
