Hi All,
Really need some help here. I've never really built a PC for looks and want to build one for my nephews who are 12, 9, and 4 years old.

My thoughts were to start with a green Turbo Gamer Aluminum SX1040 with 400 watt powersupply from buyxtremegear.com. This case comes with 4 lighted fans but I don't know the color.

I was wondering what color light kit should I get? SHould I go with green and maintain the theme or go with a different color for contrast? I will be using 2 lights, 1 for the top and 1 for the bottom.

Some color combinations to consider:

Green case/Green lights - monochromatic but probably a safe bet
Green case/Blue lights - Could be very good looking
Green case/ 1 solid green light, 1 sound activated blue light - interesting
Green case/ 1 solid green light, 1 sound activated red light - interesting. Hopefully not to christmasy looking

What about sound activated lights? Are they adjustable? Can you have them so they are always on or do they only light up when there is sound?

Finally, I'm leaning towards green on green or green on blue. But these are kids and they like wild stuff.

What would you do? What have you done? Can you link some pics?

Thanks,
Pigseye

and... yes

hah... basically, do what you want. the sound activation is cool and all, but personally it got on my nerves... young kids might thing it's pretty cool. if nothing else, the one i saw could be turned to be fully on if you want.

as far as color combos, do what you want. one warning... i went with a black case and "red" cold cathodes... the reason i put red in quotes is it's more of pink, but actually doesn't liik that bad with my mudflap girl fan grill. anyway, it's hard to go wrong. just google for case mod galleries

I'd say go with green, if you went with red it'd be a green/red "christmas" pc, or a green/pink "girly" pc, both of which aren't acceptable to 9-12 year olds.

Blue prob wouldn't match.

Just my 2 cents

Whatever you do, DON"T GET SOUND ACTIVATED LIGHTS! I hate them, you have to make a ton of noise for them to go on, just get a cold cathode, that's what I did after I found out how much sound activated ones suck.

actually, i have a few antec sound activated "iluminate" tubes from compusa, and they are awesome.
there is a knob where you can adjust the sensitivity level just in case you dont want it to flash to the faintest sound.
they are really cool when playing music or playing games.

I like UV lights with uv sensitive cable wraps and fans. Just remember that if you mix another kind of light w/ a uv, it will drown out the uv.
