I need a new printer.

I want to spend less than $150.

I'd like to be able to run out to a store and get it as opposed to buying online, but if B&M is a lot more expensive, online is fine.

Your job is to tell me which printer to buy.

How about the HP 932 series. You can get it online from Staples & use the coupon for $25.00 off. They are everywhere - and oh yes its delivered free.

I would recommend the Epson Stylus Color 880. It's a little under $150, and the print quality is great. A local Circuit City store is where I got mine.

I had the same moment of indecision as you.
It took me 2 months of farting around, looking at reviews, etc.

Finally decided on Epson stylus 880. Cartridges are expensive, but I use duplicate cartridges - haven't looked back.
Of course, it depends on what you are using it for.
This is for everything from photos, to DTP, office work.
Wide range of settings from 720 X 360dpi to 2880! X 720 - excellent for photos.

No I don't work for epson, or have shares in their company.;)

BTW, according to a PC Magazine review I read some time ago, the Epson 980 was the most efficient (in terms of using ink) printer of the bunch (of about 20 or so printers, iirc); the 880 was not far behind. Lexmark (and Cannon, again iirc) printers were some of the worst when it comes to using ink.
Of course, more efficient use of ink translates to lower cost per page of printing.

i didn't know what printers to get, so i stuck with the hp deskjet series. i haven't had many problems with them, except my 812c started making a lotta noises when printing after a year of use. now i have the 842c and it's been working fine for my use (mainly papers).
