Divx had my sytem unstable for the longest time. So I said $%^ it and un-installed it and re-formatted, now I have a clean install of Windows XP 🙂. I found ffdshow from a thread in the other forum and I LOVE IT!!! IT's AWESOME!!! But, I noticed some other codecs made by M$ :| What video codecs do I really need from M$ and what can I replace them with???

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you really just need the codecs that the videos you're watching are encoded in?

Well there always seems to be a codec that you don't have with as many different ones as there are floating around. You might try the Nimo Codec Pack. Just pay attention when installing as some of the codecs are incompatable with each other. Choose a full installation and deselect one or the other of the codecs that are listed as incompatable with each other. You will actually be doing a custom install but it's easier to just choose full installation and deselect rather than choosing custom and clicking on all the ones you want. I have had no problems after the installation when I followed the instructions.

I forgot to mention that since you were installing them all together that if you should have a problem you can uninstall the entire Nimo Codec Pack and avoid a lot of problems.
