what chipset will the Conroe support?? has anyone find anything about this??

i know it is going to be LGA 775 socket, so that means i can pop it into my mobo, but is it going to work?? o btw, i have nforce4 SLI x16 Intel Edition motherboard.

and 2nd question, does the nforce4 Intel Edition chipset equivelant to Intel 955x ??? i know my motherboard supports Pentium 840 XE, and i have Pentium 4 660 on it, so if i have to guess id said they are equal.

2 question that will effect my upgrade strategy for this year

It will most likely require a new chipset, that isn't out yet. Hard to say since it's still at least half a year away...

Right now there is only one motherboard that will support Conroe on the market today and that is intel's i975XBX (bad axe). In the BIOS it has an override mode for "1333 FSB" which is what Conroe will use.

Excluding the intel boards it will take a motherboard refresh to support the next gen chips as they will use a 1333 FSB and not 1066

i dont know but i think they will have two versions, 1333 for extreme edition and 1066 for mainstream i think, so that means the 955 and the 955x chipset still have a chance
