What chassis was the Olds Aurora and Intrigue based on?

I was staring at the Aurora on the road today and it noticed its a damn good looking car. I know GM killed off the Olds line..but do you think we'll see the Aurora in another form soon? I hope so. Same goes for the Intrigue and the Alero. Both are very nice looking cars, and I heard hte Alero drives pretty well.

Too bad GM killed off the line that had hte best products.

The Olds Aurora is a spin off of the Cadillac Seville. It had it own chassis similar to it's Cadillac cousin.

I don't know about the Intrigue, but I would guess it's a scaled down Aurora.

Aurora = Cadillac Seville, Buick LeSabre, Pontiac Bonneville

Intrigue = Buick Century and Regal, Pontiac Grand Prix and Chevy Lumina

Intrigue is the Grand Prix/Regal/Lumina/Monte Carlo chassis.
Aurora is all it's own.

Are you sure the Seville is based on those other cars? I thought it had its own chassis shared with the Deville (since they are almost the same apart from looks and size).

In either case, the Aurora was a good execution by GM.

What ever happened to the Aurora 4.0L V8?

It was never used in another car IIRC, and it got great reviews.

No, the ShortStar is the 3.5L DOHC they used in the 99 and up Intrigues and low end 01 and up Auroras

Carol Shelby is using it in the Shelby Series 1 IIRC
