verizon if you like good reception... i haven't had a problem with mine. plans are a little pricier for what you get, but the service is superb. nextel is cool too, but they don't have as many cell sites and their plans are REALLY expensive

My company's got a big contract with Verizon. For the most part, they are good, but it also varies depending on which phone you get. The V60 is a good phone and the T720 (which I was upgraded to) is not. Battery life is crap and it drops calls like crazy. The phone lady at work told me that Verizon is coming out with the nation-wide direct connect similar to Nextel, so that should give Nextel a run for the money. So a Motorola V60 with "walkie-talkie" will be my next phone.
OTOH, my buddy just got a new contract with T-Mobile and got the new Samsung phone which is way cooler than the Motorola T720. It's rings are past polyphonic and almost sound like an mp3 and the color screen is way crisper and easier to read.
OTOOH, my other buddy works for AT&T and he loves his Nokia phones (I actually miss my Nokia phones).
So it all depends on your area, your phone prefs, your budget, etc. BTW I'm in the Twin Cities, MN as are my buddies.

Here's the gist of it. If the phone is going to be used by several people for a business - get Nextel. The service is unbeatable and the 2-way is invaluable for instant communications. But the plans are extremely expensive.
Verizon is the best consumer phone courier. Service is extremely great. I'm 100% satisfied. And they don't try to gouge you on minutes and etc.
I've also dealt w/ ATT/CellOne - which is crap. They gouge you at every chance. I was really screwed b/c their free roaming area doesn't include night and weekend minutes. So when I moved from Santa Cruz to San Francisco, they gave me a few large bills (1 or 2 that I was able to get 50% off b/c it was actually their fault b/c some nobody grunt told me that I would be fine). I've also dealt w/ Sprint which sucks. Cingular I heard is crap b/c of the lack of telephone switching capabilities ( that's why you hear the circuits are busy all the time during peak hours). T-Mobile is a bit better - they use the same Cingular tech but they have twice the switching capability.
But all in all I think you'll be happy regardless of whether you choose Nextel or Verizon.

From my understanding the "2way" function is to become part of the GSM standard, so pretty much all of the companies will offer it in the near future.
