My Dell x50v got stolen so I'm not looking for a Smartphone as a replacement. Unfortunately, I've got Verizon which seems to limit the options of what Smartphone I can get. Any recommendations on a replacement carrier with a good family or business plan? 3 adults in the family, travel for me may be frequent. We live in Ohio.

CDMA itself does not suck but there seems to be less phones available that are compatible with it unfortunately.

Verizon is so far behind with their PDA phone releases it's not even funny. That's why I'll be switching next month to ATT.

yeah it is rather annoying.

Since they don't use the sim chips (that the righ term for them?) you can't buy6 a unlcoked one and throw in the chip.

though i don't have a use for th epda phone. i just want one heh.

kinda wish i was not locked in for another 1.4 years.

ATT, was Cingular. I'm happy with it....more bars in more places. Doh! Actually I've forgotten my phone in more bars in more places. :)

I use a T-Mobile Dash and I'm happy with it.

Edit: forgot to mention that signal is good wherever I've been. Cities and interstates are perfectly covered.

Weird thing is, my old Nokia (from Europe), using the same SIM card, picked up signals in rural areas where my Dash and my friends on Verizon and Cingular had no signal.

T-Mobile. Finally broke down today and got a new phone. Had one for 7 years with them that was dying. I hate being on a contract again. They have treated me pretty decent though.

Seconded, I love T-mobile. I've never had bad customer service, and I like their phones.

I'm currently on the Sprint SERO plan. I have no complaints at all. Unlimited internet/data, 500 minutes, 7pm nights/weekends, unlimited texting and unlimited roaming for $30 per month.

explain? Overall Verizon might have less choices, but we had the Treo 700 first, the Q first (smartphone... close enough) the 6700 is bad ass. What PDA phone does AT&T have that's so much more advanced? I'll take CDMA + a Treo 700p or Motorola Q over anything AT&T has, but that's just me...

Yeah. CDMA can penetrate through walls where GSM cannot. My phone can pickup in the basement of my university's library while none of my friends GSM phones can.

i use sero with my treo 700p very nicely.

and apparently, sprint will allow its phones to be unlocked so it can be used on other cdma networks (only altel and verizon are the cdma companies that i know). linky

Still using Verizon, even though Cingular apparently works where I live now.

I would recommend taking a look at Let's Talk Wireless, who is a distributor for every major cell phone service in the US. You can do a quick search from their homepage and it will bring up all of the plans that are available to you with pricing and other information. You don't have to purchase anything from them to use their search tool and it's fast. A quick overview of the company with rating can be found on my website: Let's Talk Wireless. You'll find a few other good deals on cell phone related items and other useful tips on my homepage. I hope it proves helpful!

Used to have Cincinnati Bell, which I'm pretty sure is just ATT. Their customer service was absolutely horrible. Every time we made a change to the plan, they fucked it up. We dropped them and switched the VZW. Been great so far, get a signal everywhere except the bottom floor of one of the buildings at my university.

For my work phone, I have t-mobile, although I don't have any choice in the plan or anything, coverage is great and I have no complaints.

How do you get unlimited internet/data? I thought SERO for $30 was only 500 minutes, unlimited texting, and 7pm nights/weekends.
