I currently have a 52x cd/rw drive but it just broke some how. The mechanism for the door is fault and takes me 2x (sometimes 5) pressing the button for the drive to open. Its driving me crazy everyday when inserting my games! Not to mention it sounds like a plane engine when loading. Anyways, I am looking to buy a new cd/rw drive, not one that reads everything, as i already have a dvd drive running fine. My requirements are that it is black and quiet. Recommendations????

when the Benq 1640 is just $15 more why not get it. You got CD burner and 16x DVD burning should you choose to want it. I know this Dell has a Samsunf 248F thats starting to go out on me and I sure admire my bros TDK 440N 4x DVD burner. So my next one will probably be that Benq.

With the price of DVD-RW drives being so low one would be stupid buying a cdr-w drive.

I agree with ^^^^. I also find it cheaper to burn most everything including cd ISO's to a dvd. I can put 6 cd ISO's on a DVD that costs me $.35 or burn 6 seperate cd's which cost about $.12 apiece. Then just mount them with a virtual drive. Costs half as much and are more durable.
