There is no way it is Meniere's disease. If it were he would also be experiencing fullness in his ears, tinnitus, temporary loss of hearing etc.

I envey all of you with low blood pressure. I am 19, am pretty thin, don't eat any junk food and almost nothing with processed sugar, run 10 miles a week and lift weights regularly and my blood pressure is 150/100.

A severe case of spontaneous death. First dissiness, then one day your walking along. Boom, you die.

I do have hay fever but it isn't very bad right now.

Have you ever had a middle ear infection? (A.K.A. Labyrinthitis) Once you have that your balance is impacted for the rest of your life, and it can lead to occasional onsets of vertigo as you described.
I think I used to get ear infections when I was a little kid, but I have no idea what kind. Normally my balance is great, so I doubt I have Labyrinthitis.

What is your blood pressure?
I don't know exactly, but it's nothing strange. I recently did one of those inaccurate stand-up things at the mall and it said something like 124/XX.

How the hell can you get dizzy while you are SLEEPING?
I don't know, but I do. I'll wake up right out of a dead sleep with my head spinning around in circles. Usually if I stare at my clock intently the dizzyness will go away, but I'll still feel a bit odd for the next few hours.

That would really suck!

Damn, I'm having this for the first time in my life right now. Been dizzy since yesterday. Not sure what's up; it feels like I've felt when I've had the flu, but the dizziness is more intense. I just took a Benadryl and I'm feeling better (I do have allergies), but still not 100%.

I think this is the first time I've ever had it happen while I'm awake.

Luckily it's getting better and I think I'll be able to drive home when I get out of here at 5:00.

Getting up too quickly from a chair or from the couch.

are you pregnant??!

(hey, it's what every doctor in the whole world asks a WOMAN if she EVER says she's dizzy. i had labyrinthitus once - inflammation in inner ear - and the stupid doctor asked me 3 times if i was SURE i wasn't pregant. finally i said "well, lemme tell you - i haven't had sex for a year - do YOU think i'm pregnant??!")

I have had the exact same thing for the last few years. It happens rarely......maybe 4 times a year. I think it is due to my sinus problems. It always happens when I am sleeping on my back. I think fluid somehow gets in my ear causing me to wake up with my head spinning but as soon as I raise up and focus it goes away. My head usually feels like a fish bowl for the next few hours and then everything is fine.

No, it's what happens when we use the search button to respond to threads that now apply to us, rather than creating a whole new thread. ;)

I get that after being on a plane. Exact same thing, I don't think it's something to worry about. You're just sitting there and suddenly, wheeeeeeeeee!. It's kind of naseating and fun at the same time.

You might want to talk to your doctor.

My friend was dizzy out of the blue two weeks ago, he went to see the doctor.

Last saturday they removed the baseball sized tumor from his brain.

As stated - could be something simple or life threatening.

I hate news like that. I'm mostly thinking it's leftovers from heat stroke, but I suppose it could be something worse. Not sure who to go see though...I don't have a GP that I see. My only doctor is a specialist (endocrinologist).

Hot summer months require the awareness that heat can kill. Watch for the following...
Symptoms
Weakness, dizziness
Rapid pulse
Reddish tinge to skin
Nausea and/or vomiting
Unconsciousness
High body temperature

I started feeling the dizziness shortly after spending most of the day outside at a wedding, in hot clothing. :p

1/2 beer, 1/2 glass of wine. Somewhere around 6-8 glasses of water and two diet pepsis. :p

Edit: Just called a nurse, she suggested that I go catch up on electrolytes and drink some more water, and that I should be feeling better by tomorrow -- the "fishbowl" feeling I'm having now is apparently common the day after heatstroke.
