What causes someone to bruise easily?

Does anybody know? Obviously a bruise is caused by capillaries breaking, but what would cause that to happen more easily?

I've never known myself to bruise "easily" before. My car was dead the other day, and I gave myself a push start. I had my shoulder/arm up against the door frame, pushing. It didn't really hurt or anything..

Anyway, I just looked at my arm and there's a HUGE bruise from doing this. Easily the biggest bruise I've ever had.

Maybe I really did just hurt my arm that bad? Kinda has me alarmed though.

Hmm.. is that really it? I've always thought my blood clotted fairly fast, although I have no real measure.. it's not difficult at all to stop myself from bleeding.

Anemia?

I don't think so, I eat a lot of red meat?

Diet was the way I was leaning though. What biological substance deals with capillary elasticity? lol

my sister bruises easily. she's huge. i put it to a deficiency in her diet cuz no way she eats enough vitamins and minerals for her giant butt. also, all that extra poundage probably softens the blow so she might not notice it when she runs into something. she's also more likely to run into things because she's large and uncoordinated.

god am i glad i got the good genes.

I've had some gnarly bruises a few times from stuff that didn't seem like it should bruise. It was kind of :Q but since it only happened a few times I didn't really think much of it.

If you're Captain Bruises All The Time then I'd look in to it, otherwise it's no big deal.

Yeah, no.. thats what I mean. I don't bruise easily at all, or at least I thought... I've met people that will bump into a wall and get a bruise, lol.. It takes considerable force to bruise me, and even then it seems the bruise is smaller than the actual area of trauma.

It was slightly up hill, I guess I was just pushing really hard.. lol

Well it also depends on the area. There's a lot of blood moving through your shoulder and in front. But on the comment of getting older you will bruise easier.
