Drinking a lot and getting pretty damn drunk once or twice a week, or having 2-3 drinks 5-7 times a week?

Getting plastered 2 times a week. Social drinking doesn't do very much to your system.

Probably getting hammered has worse long term effects.

You could drink 365 beers a year and be in OK health. But if you drank only 120 beers, 20 beers at a time, you'd be in trouble.

Now you should include like max per day in this.
My friend's dad drinks 18+ per day and has done it for over 20 years. He's gone to the doctor for blood tests with zero problems.

I was surprised.

Drinking more at once seems to have bigger problems.

Actually, having a couple of drinks a day is beneficial. Helps lower your blood pressure and helps prevent heart disease.

The health benefits of drinking alcohol in moderation seem to apply to spreading your weekly consumption out. So drinking fewer drinks, but more days a week is healthier.
