What cause's ghosting?

it's a sony gdm-fw900 24" flatscreen to be exact. text looks a little blurry at the edges but clears up considerably towards the center of the screen where it's barely noticeable.

I believe this tends to occur in larger monitors due to moire effect (though, it's been awhile since i read about it, so I could be off a bit). The Moire reduction in these larger monitors causes a bit of fuzziness around the edges. I'd recommend going with an LCD if you need a screen of that size.
