I am running win2k, sp1 on a classic athlon 700 (non OCed) on a FIC SD11. There is the error, somewhat truncated

Stop: 0x000000050 (0x...bunch of hexadecimal info)
Pagefault in non paged area
Addres ___________ base at E0222, DateStamp 39asdasas - vsdatant.sys
Please contact sys admin..blah blah

Anyone know what is the cause of this? I dont think its a heat issue because I have a nice heatsink + fan and the case is open. Also, it does the same thing on 2 diff pc100 sticks of memory, so I dont think thats it either. Any iedas?

Oh yah, forgot to mention that this usually happens after i leave the computer on for a couple days. Never happens right when i boot or wahtever. Its always when I'm doing various things, never anything particular

I would get something similar with an 800 Classic with one exception; it would post and then go to load the operating system and bam... error loading ntokernel.exe....etc...etc... Anyway, it ended up being a bad processor. Do you also get protection errors? Check your memory, etc. How are your processor temps? Is your fan running top notch? See if you can swap the proc. out with a buddy... Good luck...

99% of the time these types of blue screens are hardware problems or problems with device drivers written for the hardware. If you're using all MS "Certified" WHQL drivers for all of the stuff in your PC, then my bet is some type of hardware problem is causing your crashes.

What type of memory and hard drive are you running? Can you slow down the memory timing in the BIOS to the slowest (dumbest) settings and get it running stably?

Last but not least, you should always check the following things:
1. Do you have the latest Via 4-in-1 drivers (for the Via southbridge)? (I'm not familiar with the AMD 751 northbridge and whether it needs some drivers as well)

2. Have you flashed the latest BIOS?

Is the graphics chipset overheating?

Can you isolate something that consistently triggers the blue screen?

This information would help...

I installed the latest VIA drivers and my bios is up to date. I have a voodoo3 that heats up a bunch but I put a fan on the heatsink to help with the problem. Is there any way to figure out what HD is causing the problem?

VSDATANT.SYS is the problem....

Virtual Storage Driver ATA NT. There is something wrong with the IDE drivers. Try reinstalling them.

Going on what AndyHui just said, if reinstalling the *latest* Via drivers doesn't work, try backing off a version or two to see if that helps.
