What case and PSU for a dual MP system?

Have a friend that is interested in building a Dual MP 1800+ system for graphics/video. What case and power supply should he consider to match up with a Tyan Tiger MP?

Probably looking at a standard array of components for the system otherwise - 2 hd's, cdrw, dvd-rom, etc etc...

Thanks.

I am facing the same decesion. If your friend wants to stick with aircooling, a Lian Li PC60 or one of the varients will not require a bunch of mods to get rid of the heat from two CPUs. The PC Power & Cooling Turbo-Cool 425W would be my PSU choice. Slap a couple of quiet Glaciators on the CPUs and your done.

Given that he won't overclock, I'd go with an Antec SX1040 or an SX1240, depending on if he wants a mid-tower or a full tower. They come with Antec 400w PSUs, which should be sufficient.

The Tyan Tiger MP just fits in the Antec 8xx/10xx cases (and the other Chenming variations, Chieftec, Enermax, etc.), but it works great. The top right corner of the board just misses the upper front cage, which is a little annoying when installing the mobo. But these cases are worth it.

A dual processor board in an 8xx case doesn't seem wise...

It all depends on how many drive bays you want/need. The 8xx/10xx case have the same frame, the 10xx just has more bay options. I use a 1000sx w/ an Enermax 431W PS.

Why Enermax?

I use an Inwin Q500N full tower. Started out with a BP6 running dual 366->550, went to an Asus CUSL2 (CPUs used: CII 533->800, CII 566->850, CII 633->950, P3 700->973), then a CUSL2-C w/ P3 1000->1125, and now an AMD 1400->1550. I've been through a lot of system configs in the last 2 years, and the only thing that's remained constant is this case. Has plenty of room, very durable, and gives you plenty of options if you're into modding. It would have no problem accomodating a dual MP system.

I've had good success with them, long before I ever bought an Antec case, so I've stuck with them. Plus on the newest models, they have manual control of the speed of the second fan.

Not that there's anything wrong with Antec PS's. I've just never used them.
