What cartoon character always said, "That idea is so crazy, it just might work?"

Or, was that Gilligan's Island?

Or, multiple TV shows shelved away in the dark courners of my mind.

I am 34, so some of you young one might not have a clue, unless you have seen some reruns.

My current guess is that it is either Scooby-Doo, Gilligan's Islan, or the campy BatMan and Robin form the 60's.

I don't think it would be Gilligan's Island. While the Skipper always thought Gilligan's ideas were stupid, he never would have agreed with them either. It was usually the Professor who would say "Wait, Skipper, Gilligan may be on to something" but would never say "that idea is so stupid". Combine the Skipper and Prof and you have a winner, but I don't think either one of those characters would have said the full phrase.

Then it may be Scooby Doo, or BatMan, or ...is it possible it was a SuperFriends?
I bet you everyoen on this board over about 30 will know what I am talking about, but like me can't recall it. I ahvea feeling, under 30, the show was off the air. hmmmm...was it one of those whacky Sid and Marty Kroft shows? BTW, I miss TVLAND.com .. no, that site is there, what was that site that had archives of all the OLD shows, cartoon, and even the darn commercials. it was fantastic!

I've seen all of those shows, but can't remember anyone using both halves of that quote. I can envision (enlisten?) Adam West saying the "it just might work" part, but I don't recall if he actually said it, or I'm just imagining things.

All I can envision is Dana Carvey in "Master of Disguise" saying in his corrupted Italian accent "Thatsa so crazy it justa mighta work." :p I cannot remember any cartoon character or old sitcoms that said your version, though.

I have never seen that show, but I hear it is fantastic, and quiet intellectual. If they do in fact say it, they are alluding to the show I am talking about.

yeah, the brain does say it. thats the only show i can remember hearing it for sure, but like you im sure its not the first time its been used in a cartoon.

pinky and the brain actually had a stand-alone show. like most entertainment, it was funny and clever the first few seasons ( or the 15+ different ones i vaugely remember seeing anyway), and then it fizzled since it had all been done.

See, they are alluding to the show. i am starting to thing it is Robin from BatMan. You know, he had those super keen green gloves, and he would punch the palm of one hand with the his fist, and say stuff like that.

Tennessee Tuxedo?
That’s the cartoon character that I was thinking of before I saw your comment. I don’t know if it’s because he really said it or because it sounds like something that would be said in that voice. The voice actor was Don Adams who played the lead character Maxwell Smart on “Get Smart”. Unless you remember clearly that it was Tennessee Tuxedo, perhaps we should consider that we might have heard Maxwell Smart say the phrase.

Welcome to the Forums, StevePastor.
You have replied to a 14 year old thread that I am sure no one from the original thread is still looking for the answer. This is what we call a necro thread. Feel free to post a new thread if you want to.

Nosaj, I just saw that your comment was posted almost 14 years ago so I’m going to send the reply that I wrote into the past so that you’ll be able to read it in 2004. You won’t believe what’s happened.
An African-American man with an Arabic sounding name, whom you will see give a great keynote address at the Democratic Convention “this” summer, will be elected president in 2008. He will serve for eight years and will be followed by an orange skinned racist, narcissistic, authoritarian leaning, woman abusing, pathologically lying, conspiracy theory believing, illiterate television addict and reality show star billionaire who will be helped by Vladimir Putin in the Russian hacking of our election.
So prepare yourself for a new meaning for “Orange is the New Black”.
Although like George W. Bush, your president, our POTUS, Orange Man will lose the popular vote, He will win the electoral college vote because he will convince enough fools and bigots in the right states that electing him is so crazy, it just might work. Hey, where have I heard that before?

I thought the Brain's standard quote was 'Are you thinking what I am thinking?' to which Pinky would come up with a completely asinine response...

my favorite was: If we give peas a chance, won't the lima beans get jealous?

I think maybe the conversation the OP was talking about was between the Tick and Arthur.

Here are many sources for that quote starting from the 1960's.

And StevePastor's necro idea worked!
