Hi, this forum seems like a nice place to get help, So here goes.

I'm pretty short on cash so here are the video cards I've found that are cheap, under $90.

INNO3D TNT2 M64 32MB AGP w/fan - $39.50
ARI XPERT 2000 PRO AGP 32MB RAM WHITE BOX - $39.00

3DFX Voodoo 4500 - $79.99
INNO3D GEFORCE2 MX 200 64MB SINGLE HEAD AGP W/ fan - $69.50
INNO3D GEFORCE2 MX 400 64MB SINGLE HEAD w/ fan - $88.50

which one of these cards is a better bet, should I just go for the cheaper ones? I just want a good 3d accelerator that will run all the 3d games I play. Right now I'm stuck with a crappy 8mb Permedia 2 which runs about nothing.

I'm open to all suggestions, and if you know of a better card for under $90 that I haven't discovered please inform me.

Thank you.

However, you CAN get a much better ATI card for about $80 shipped, the Radeon DDR LE. This card will beat the MX's fairly easily, especially in 32 bit color and hi resolution situations. I personally have this card, and love it. A quick overclock, and a quick registry hack, and this card will be performing near the level of a "normal" Radeon DDR.

Yes, The Radeon LE would be the best bang for your buck video card and it is within that budget.

I expecially thank you lsd for www.pricewatch.com! I'll probably be buying from that site, great prices on everything there.

it also depends on the games you play most or other apps. and the cpu type/speed your putting the card in.

I'm putting it into a Pentium II 233MHz with 100Mbs of ram
yeah I know my comp sucks

I'm just looking for a cheap card that plays the majority of games.
Seems right now I'm torn between the Voodoo 4 4500, the Radion LE, and the Geforce 2 MX...

How did you get 100MB of ram? You'd have to have a 64, a 32, and a 4??? Anyways, I suggest that you get a new cpu first. You are REALLY gonna be held back by your cpu if you buy a new video card. I don't know how much better it'll do you since you are so bottlenecked by your cpu.

Actually it's 98MHz of ram, I just rounded it to the HCD. :)
Yeah, I'm gonna carry this video card with me when I get my new pc..whenever that will be.
My main reason right now for getting a new video card is because the one I have right now doesn't even support directx 8. I need that for some development stuff.
I figured, might as well get a decent card that will last me, and like I said, I can use it for my new computer when I build it.

oh just get a voodoo3 maybe and save your money a better card later on.
most of tadays game will never play right on a p2-233. best to spend the extra cash on a new system or cpu upgrade
