Hi, i have been using a Geforce FX 5200 64mb for around 2 years now but i just can't get playable FPS on the new games such as UFO: Aftershock, FEAR, Quake 4 and elder scrolls: oblivion is out of the question.

I scored: 160 in 3dmark05, yes thats one hundred & sixty with a steady fps of between zero and one.

Now, i usually run at 800x600 resolution, sometimes 1024x on older games.

So what card would allow me to play these new games at high / ultra settings at say 40+ fps on 800x600, and what card would do the same at 1024x resolution?

I have 768mb ram, Athlon 2600+.

AGP only, thanks.

Thanks for any replies.

I've decided on the 6600GT but i have two options, 128mb or 256mb?

The difference in price is $70 USD, is it worth paying extra for more memory?

That's a waste of money. He's playing at low resolutions, so the extra bandwidth the 6800NU provides is not going to be that helpful. My vote goes to the 128mb 6600GT, unless he can get that AGP 6800NU for the same price.

The 6600 GT would probably be a good choice for him. But what he should be aware of is that the 6800nu in AGP is also available and sometimes not much more expensive than the 6600 GT's, but most importantly that it carries the possibility of being able to be unlocked to 16 pipes.
