What card is after the GTX 580 / AMD 6970

Since the 580 seems to be out of stock everywhere, I am wondering if they have a new release coming down the pike in the next month or so.

Is there any rumor/speculations on what Nvidia/AMD's next offering will be ?

Don't forget the rest of Nvidia's line as they refresh the entire 400 series into 500
- and that will prompt AMD to refresh 5700 series and below

Both will have a dual gpu card in Q1. NVIDIA has a next gen GPU called "Kepler" coming 3q or 4q. That's all that I have heard.

Amazon has 3 580's in stock ;-)

I don't think NVIDIA expected to sell as many 580's as they did, especially at $500. But I don't think high end users had a lot of choice.

A little exaggerated.... First off, I doubt there was any significant quantities of 580's to begin with. second off, there are plenty of other high end parts available. There are 480's to be found everywhere, 570's are easy to find aswell as the whole current line of 5870's, 5970's, 6970's, 6950's etc etc. A card doesn't have to to be the absolute single fastest gpu to be "high end". I know that you will never admit that any of the amd cards that i mention beat your 470 but facts are facts.

There is a best card available at every given price point and for any given feature sets.

We all have a personal preference, some of us tend have a skewed vision and only get to use what our favorite company offers. Then there is the rest of us who use whatever product best suits our current needs.

unless your gaming at 2500x1600 why not just get a gtx570? It's just as fast or faster then a 6970, for less money. These benches were done with the latest 10.12 rc2 driver also.

apoppin, was there any guidance in the press/release information from NV or AMD about what sort of quantities would be available of the GTX570/580 and HD69xx?

Whoops - I was about to post that PNY had their cards in stock from the official store - but I just double checked and they're all sold out.
