What card do I need???

I want to send HDTV quality video out to my sony HDTV to play NFS underground 2...At least that uses that interface on the back of the TV....

Figure out what's on the back of your TV, then go look up a card that has that output. Pretty simple, really. I'm not a TV guy, but IIRC some have DVI inputs.

I am assuming since he wants HD that he at least has component video inputs on the TV, and would obviously have S-video and RCA's also.

You can do that type of thing with most high end cards out there, the ATi might be a better bet, my nVidia never came with anything like that (HD cables) but i think the X800XT and X800 Pro VIVOs do.

I will look at the back but it would be for an encoder box to connect to...It being a newer TV what would that interface be???

DVI and component. Even my two year old Sony RPTV has DVI. Getting a non-pixel based TV to do PC resolutions is a pain, have fun!

yes it is, I wouldn't even bother with PC output personally, but that's just from experience.

so basically this is just for newer lcd or plasma tvs???

I use DVI on my RPTV, but I do not play games. The res is like 1440x720. I use it for DVR. The pixel based TVs like LCD are just monitors with TV tuners, so you can do any PC type app you want.
