This summer I have my first real job...I'm lookin for a car...Something that's a 4x4...I LOVE Jeeps...doesn't have to be a Jeep, but something that I could take offroad...Can also be a truck...Needs to have cheap insurance...Any suggestions?

Old Toyota 4-runner or any '97 or newer TJ (Wrangler) should be fine for you.

Just look for low miles.

A dune buggy with a VW engine

What sort of offroading are you looking into?

The cheap alternative to a Wrangler seems to be either a Samurai...or an older Wrangler 🙂

More into rocky offroading, but maybe a little mudding...

EDIT: Dang, the Samurai is awesome....

Gravel or rock-climbing?

The latter would probably (actually, definitely 🙂) rule out a sand rail. They have no clearance.

Despite being only two-wheel drive, they manage decently on things like sand--ironic as that may be

Gravel...I hate rock climbing...
I went with a guy I know (gots a big a$$ Jeep and I nearly shat in my pants...)
The Samurai LOOKS awesome, but it's engine sounds...weak...66HP?
The sand sounds like a blast...I just need to find one in my area...

EDIT: No that it'd be street legal or anything😛

You can make them street legal...but there are lots of tiny regulations you gotta conform to
