Although the damage might not be as much, it certainly will be more than what the car is worth, so im looking for something else.

Question is, Used in a dealer or just from craig's list? I probably want to spend less then 3K. I just want to have something cheap (but reliable) to commute. Any ideas?

I found this one... is it too expensive for the mileage? How about the fees they include? That is why I dont like dealers...

3K, is that what they're totaling your altima for?

the price of used hondas is ridiculous. you could probably find an early 2000s taurus for under $4k advertised, which should be able to negotiate down. taxes and other fees vary, of course.

Im not sure yet. Have yet to talk to the adjuster. But with my finances now, i think under 3K should be upper limit. Should i just go to an used car dealership? I mean I bought my smashed car through craig's list and it was strong and ran fine.

You can find a late 90's Escort under 3 or a Saturn also cheap and good on gas
Used cars are fine if you know what you are looking for in a private sale, but are always sold as is so really check them out

If you go to a dealer $3k will get you a pretty lousy vehicle, buy from a private seller.
