Yea it was kinda cool and ours was a 3spd on the tree too... Man that was a learning exp for sure... Most of the time with that little 199cui 6cyl you had to put it in low to get off a wad of gum...:thumbsup: Tough little car though had a late model big Pontiac hit the right rear corner it kinda buckled up the rear quarter and cracked the tail light but the trunk still opened and shut just fine the Pontiac was a total loss (hit my grandfather doing 65mph)... The other driver was in the hospital for like 3 months my grandfather drove home and was a bit sore for like 2 days... His insurance wanted to total the car so he let them and they paid he bought it back for like $100 and drove it for another 3 years...

I like it because it's so basic. You have access to everything under the hood, it's obvious what everything does and, when something breaks, you can fix it yourself.

Yes very simple and a single barrel carb too... But watch yourself if you lean over to far changing plugs you`ll fall in and hit the ground... Cant do that with most of these new cars... But did look under the hood of the new Chevy trucks and Camaro`s and there is a big gap between the radiator and the front of the engine with nothing but ground showing...:thumbsup:

Who would have expected that to have 400 HP? Back in the late 90s when other kids my age thought their 225 HP Mustang GT was fast :awe:

A buddy of mine back then their family car was a Pontiac stationwagon with a 428 and I swear you could tromp it and watch the fuel gauge move (uh down) of course gas back then was like .25-.30 cents per gallon of the real stuff...

Mine was a 2 door 1973 SAAB 99LE with a 4 speed manual transmission. It was beige with beige cloth interior...but it had heated front seats which was a godsend in upstate NY in Dec/Jan/Feb. It was a little over 10 years old and had a little under 100,000 miles on it. I think I had only seen a Ferrari in person once when we went on vacation in Ft Lauderdale, FL one winter.
