What candy are you getting for Halloween?

We get frozen Brussel sprouts from Trader Joe's that are awesome. Cover them in butter and the kids like them too. Of course, mine aren't covered in butter..lol.

I didn't like them as a kid either, I remember them being very bitter. The ones we get now aren't like that.

They seem to be a bit smaller, more tender, and less bitter these days. Very yummy!

Snickers, Kit-Kat's, M&M's, and Recee's PB Cups. I *loved* Halloween as a kid so I give out full sized bars. Yeah, I'm *that* guy 🙂

I liked them as a kid, but I'm half-polack, so I liked that, liver, pickled herring, all kinds of gross stuff my friends would not touch. 😀

KT

I love my grandmother's pickled herring, but I quickly get tired of the store bought variety. we mostly eat it at Christmas here in Denmark. rugbrød (danish rye bread) with butter, pickled herring, onion slices, curry salad (danish variety), hard boiled egg and then chased with aquavit, it's not Christmas until I've had that.

maybe Brussels sprouts just taste better these days, damned kids these days always have it better:colbert:

almost nobody does that anymore. We take the kids down this one dead end street, the nice old lady does this because people don't walk all the way down. The ones that do get rewarded 🙂

It's just my way of saying "thank you" to all the people who used to do this for me when I was a kid. And, for some completely unknown reason, nobody ever TPs my house or yard during Halloween.

Dave

I prefer Green Giant Baby Brussels Sprouts in Butter.

Didn't expect this thread to transition to the subject of brussels sprouts. But yeah, love me some brussels sprouts.

Did I mention this sucks being on a diet?

I have to try to lose weight amongst
halloween - A day I have to have candy laying around
vacation - Going out to eat a lot
thanksgiving - A holiday that is all about eating..

Help me... heeeeeeelp!

Based on your user name, I wouldn't expect you to care so much 😛

Halloween - Eat Dark chocolate, the darkest you can get. Regular chocolate is loaded with sugar and milk.

Vaca - exercise in a fun way. Biking, walking, etc..less guilt while shoveling that food down the gullet

T-day - well, shit....indulge for a day..just don't let it carry over to the next.

Bougth a 30 pack full zised candy bars from Costco and a bag of smaller stuff. The first 30 get the bars (what's left as I slowly work my way through them) and the rest get the smaller stuff. Thing is I won't be home from work until after 6PM so I might miss out on the little kids.

I moved to a new house this year, no idea if we're going to get any kids. It's a little out of the way, so I kind of doubt it. But I got some Reese's Peanut Butter Cups anyway just in case.

Going to try to take my 2 year old to a couple houses nearby. Don't know how long he'll really put up with it though. 🙂

Got 4 bags from Costco, no idea what's in them...

Oh man I can imagine how much of a gold mine of epicness Costco must be for stuff like that. Would be so awesome if we had one here.

Costco: The only store where you ask yourself "will I ever use all of this in my life time?"

The local schools district has a whooping cough outbreak. We're thinking of keeping the lights out and setting any wayward children on fire.

Walgreens usually has Russell Stover chocolate pumpkins on sale for half off or better on Halloween day or Nov 1st.

slight necro here, but I came across the answer to this conundrum today.

as we age our tastebuds lose sensitivity to bitterness and that's why we enjoy different things as adults than as kids.

Brussels sprouts taste the same, we just can't taste it 😵.

I have successfully managed to avoid candy other than a bar of 97% cacao chocolate that I bought a few weeks ago. (Used to be a terrible source of many many empty calories for me.)
