What can support PC2100 Registerd ECC

I am looking for a motherboard/chipset that will support 512MB(2 dimms) of PC2100 Registerd ECC DDR. My current board is an Aopen running a P3, and I would like to upgrade to an AMD XP or P4(Northwood).

Most current AMD and P4 board support PC2100. Registered is another matter - the chipset needs to support it. (Don't confuse ECC with registered/buffered as they are -not- the same even though many of the DIMMs commonly advertised are often both instead of one or the other.)

This sure looks pretty clear to me, that he want to know which motherboard would support 2 dimms , 512mb total of pc2100 REGISTERED ECC DDR ram, what else can he be asking besides this..

He probably already have those 2 stick and would like to know what motherbaord would support them so if/when he get a new motherboard it'll work with those ram, instead of needing to get new ones.


The Asus K7m266 (the one that uses AMD761 chipset) seem to support registered ecc ddr ram. But this board is dying out so I don't recommend getting it.

I use Reg. ECC DDR Ram in my Amd 760MPX setup. It is a dual CPU system. You can geta dual board new for around $200, and a couple of cpus for around $120.

So rock the dual CPU thing man, if you have Windows XP Pro, or 2000 Pro.

I have an Abit KG-7 RAID version with 1GB of Registered ram it. Works flawlessley with all the DIMM slots populated.

The P4 chipsets from intel ( i845 series) are not compatible with registered ram. So your option is the AMD 760 or the 760MP(X) chipsets.
