any suggestions? :)

I rooted my phone earlier this week because I wanted nandroid backups and I wanted to uninstall the stock Sprint apps/bloatware.

all that is done, and now I'm wondering -- are there other cool features I should be taking advantage of?

Wireless tether apps?

Chainfire for games? (note I've never tried it myself, I just keep hearing people use it as a reason for rooting)

What phone do you have?

Not much that I want to do, it turns out. I'm running a rom that comes pre-rooted, but I haven't used any apps that require rooting yet.

HTC Evo 4g... I was kinda tempted to try an ICS rom, but it seems like it's still very buggy.

I test drove an ICS ROM in alpha stage on my Evo 4g a few weeks ago. It ran surprisingly well but I don't think it was quite ready for daily use yet (compared to MikG which I've been running for the past 6 months or so). One of the benefits of rooting is that you can try out lots of different ROMs and easily restore nandroid backups if they don't work out.

Do you need to root to install CWM for Nandroid? I thought that was just a kernel flash. I don't think my phone is rooted, but I have installed CWM and did a Nandroid backup. I thought rooting gave you super-user access to the main OS, while installing CWM/Nandroid was a boot ROM overwrite. Or am I misunderstanding something?

Different Android phones have different methods to install CWM. For some phones you have to have root to install ROM Manager which is how you install CWM.

My Dell Streak doesn't need root to install CWM, because the way to install CWM is to flash it directly using fastboot.

Ok, thanks, Cronos. It might seem like I was being pedantic, but I just want to make sure that I have the lingo down.

I have Deck Alpha5 on my EVO, the video recording doesn't work, no WiMax and the built in gallery doesn't seem to ever work right for me. But I haven't had it crash on me or randomly reboot. Seems pretty stable and is feels faster than GB. If you root you could do a Nand backup and put Deck on it. If you end up not liking it you can just wipe and restore the Nand backup and you're back to 2.3.
