What can i get for about $1k?

i have a case, and soundcard, memory as well (1.7gb) im looking for more HD space, so one HD would be nice (300 ish)

what im looking for would be.
new PS (old one doesnt have SATA, or any new connectors)
Mobo
Proc
GPU.

i play games quite regularly.

i also would be looking for a new keyboard.

other than that i think i have everything needed.

MikeMike, my recommedation is to wait for conroe but if you want to buy now,

get a opty 165, Dfi ultra-d, Seasonic 600w or OCZ powerstream, and a 1900xt

prolly not until mid summer when i have some pure cash.

You say that you have 1.7GB of RAM. Can you break that down for us by giving the speed and capacity of each DDR stick? I ask this because some people arn't aware that you can't take 1GB PC3200 + 512MB PC3200 + 256MB PC2100 and expect them all to run at PC3200. RAM is only as fast as the slowest stick. Moving on......

PS: Dependant on other componants that we haven't selected yet, so wait on this.

Mobo: This
or this.

Processor: Go for a X2 now, if you arn't OCing. This is a good one

GPU: x1900xt OCed to x1900xtx speeds should be good. Linkage

Wow, you do live outside of ATOT 😀 .

CPU: If you're waiting till mid-summer I second the vote on waiting for Conroe (or at least to see if it's really what it's been hyped up to be).
Mobo: Asus A8N
GPU: 1900xt
PSU: Sorry, don't have a recommendation

1Gb XMS 3200
256mb HyperX pc 2700 (hits 3200 no problem, and goes higher, but i need to RMA it)
512mb Crucial PC3200 (needs RMA'd as well has issues with memtest)

CPU: AMD X2 3800+=$295 from ZZT
Motherboard/GPU Combo: ASUS A8R32-MVP + ATI RADEON X1900XT=$620
PSU: Enermax Liberty 500watts- $110

Total: $1025

7800GT OC by BFG is technically the best, but the eVGA 7800GT has been shown to be about the same if not better.

Or the Gainward 7900gt one, i can't remember it's name tho (might be 7800/7900GS 512mb GLH/Golden Sample), and i dont think it's out quite yet.

for $1k i can recommend from exp:
mb: a8r32-mvp deluxe $185
gpu: x1900xt: $430
cpu: 3800+ X2 $295
psu: enermax whisper 2 535watt $90

total $1000
