generic castrated MSI MicroATX board
256mb PC100 SDRAM
20Gig 5400rpm fujitsu HDD
Generic castrated MSI Nvidia TNT2 32Mb
some no name sh1tty Analogue TV card
oh yeah...gapping hole where the aftermarket samsung CDRW sat.
Matsushita DVD ROM
and wait for it........90WATT PSU!!!

Fast enough for web browsing, email & word processing for you grandma or someone else who's not a gamer or power user. I would recommend Win2K instead of WinXP to keep the performance up.

Plop a pair of nics in the box (or however many you need > 1).
Install <insert serious OS here>. I recommend OpenBSD.
Configure firewall (in the case of OpenBSD: PF).
Put it between you and the world.
