What can I do with this old system?

I have an old system:
AMD K6-2 - 450 MHZ
384MB SD RAM
Onboard graphics (8 MB shared)
Windows 98
It also has an old 8 GB 4800? RPM hard drive.

I have an old 40GB 7200 RPM drive sitting in another pc as an unused secondary hard drive. I'm thinking of removing the 40GB out and putting it in the k6-2 system and doing an install of Windows 2000.

Think it's worth it?

This system will just be an online pc for around my house.

If its not packed with a lot of automatic startup programs, it will work fine as a web/email station.

Right now while it's a Windows 98 machine, the only things that start up are explorer, systray, and the virus scan software.

You can do lots of things with it.
I'd probably use it as a file server/SETI cracker (even though K6 CPU's suck at that stuff, at least it could be put to use)

yeah, use it as a file server or dist. computing device. It's like putting an old bull out to pasture, or stickin your grandpa in a retirement home
