What can I do with really fast Internet?

My current ISP is rated at 56.6 dial up. Because of my location or phone wiring, I get about 24 to 28. Not very fast. I've had it this way for years. Next week they will be installing Sprint ION, which has a 8 Mbps download. With this fast speed, what can I do differently? I've usually avoided web sites that take too long to load. Should I look into web conferencing?

Wouldn't the time a page loads also depend on the amount of traffic and the hardware of the server?

Yes, on a good server, pages will load like changing the channel on TV

If you have a very fast internet connection, should I worry about my machine not being able to keep up? I only have a Pentium 233 with 64 MB Ram and a Diamond Stealth 2000. Are these enough?

Could add some RAM since it is so cheap - 64MB stick to have 128MB total

Well, you could use Dialpad to cut out long distance phone bills.
Download just about any shareware/demos that you want in seconds.
Download entire albums in minutes.
Subscribe and download entire websites in seconds.

Crap. I'll stop there. I'm depressing myself with my measly 2k/sec download speed


BTW - I would bump your RAM up to 128, and think about getting a bigger harddrive. With that much bandwith to burn up, you'll be downloading like a madman and will want more drive space.
