basically i would like to turn this into a file server, or in my terms a computer that can hold 4 high end hdds have a nic, and not reboot itself when someone needs to take or move files from it.... any help would be great
Since there is not much that this box will be needing to do slackware would keep everything pretty minimal. But if you don't want to be bothered with slack's added complexity, you could also do an install of debian stable. Debian has excellent package management. There are also plenty of other distros out there that could be used instead, so if you look around you might find a distro that you like more.thanks for advice, does it have to be slackware? any other linux distro
Don't worry, it's not that hard to get started once the PC is on the network.and im not familiar with samba
what can i do with Pentium 133mhz & 16ram?
