what can i do with a 5mm LED?

i just bought a blue 5mm LED at radio shack today. its just a bulb thing with 2 wires stickin out. i bought mounts for it too. but problem is..i dont know what to do with it...i dont know how to put it in my computer case, if i can, i wanna change by power indicator light. will i have to solder anything or whatever? what else can i do?

simply remove the existing led, and replace

or if you wanna light up a case badge, you'll have to do some cutting and replacing

You didn't say which case you have but assuming it's similar to an Enlight 7237, pull out the existing power indicator LED. Snip the two wires on your new LED to the match the length of the wires on the old one. Slip it in and power up. If the new LED doesn't light up don't panic. Just shut off your system and flip the LED to reverse the way you're connecting the wires.

In my case which is an Antec 830 I ordered blue LED power and HD lights. The stock are 3mm but the 5mm will fit its as simple as Dan says pull it out of the piece that the wires are in and slide the new ones back in as long as the LED you bought take the same power to run them they will work just fine.

If you are still unsure of what to do, you can just grab a 5mm blue LED with wires and connectors here. Looks great in my Fong Kai 320b. Wife even likes it. :)
