OK this is getting really annoying.. i just moved into a new house and there seems to be alot of interference in my room. My monitor display is very distorted with constant "waves" and unless I reduce frequency to 60 Hz the distortion is hell on my eyes. to add to that, I can't even plug in my klipsch speakers without getting a very audible whirring noise which won't go away until I unplug my speakers. plus, the monitor gets even WORSE when i've got my printer turned on. I've tried unplugging everything from the surge protector except for speakers + computer + monitor. I've also tried connecting my computer + monitor directly into different wall sockets in my room. I've even tried a Monster cable surge protector and all this didn't help one bit. does anybody have any suggestions on how i can get the interference to a minimum??

Figure out where it's coming from. Is it external interference or is it in the lines themselves?

What type of monster cable surge protector? Most of those have the "cleanpower," but it seems like it didn't work.

You can go to your local hardware store (orchard supply), and they may have sheets of thin copper or steel that you can try to use and the "shield" the parts. If that doesn't work, then there may be a fault in the electrical wiring which would only be fixed by an electrician or a power conditioner, which keeps the voltage constant, and at a true sine square wave. These conditioners are better known for hometheater setups, and cost a lot of money.

The electrical meter is right outside my room. could that be it? if so, i would have to put sheet metal around my wall? this does not seem very feasible...
