I am having to use a Pentium 133 until I can get all of my tbird components. The box has an ASUS board, 48 megs of ram, and the pentium 133. I tried overclocking but no luck. I have an old hard drive in there and I know that is killing me on performance but that will be replaced next week. What kind of things can I turn off in Windows to help out my old pentium 133? Please help me. Thanks

Turn of all visual effects
Don't use a picture on the desktop
Disable active desktop
Don't run too many programs at the same time
Defrag the HD often
Disable task scheduler
Right click My computer - performance - file system - Set this computers typical role to network server (this will use more of your ram for disk cache there fore you will have less ram free)

Go and have a look at http://www.tweakfiles.com there you will find many utilities to tweak Microsof OS's

Get rid of everything that may be in the taskbar. Eliminate all unnecessary programs. Check to see what processes are running with Ctrl-Alt-Del. The bare minimums are Explorer and Systray, I believe.

Good luck! That IS a challenge!

Just wait for your tbird :)... But if you don't want to make sure you have L2 cache on there. If not, buy some (kind of a waste though if your doing the tbird).
