Mom bought a laptop for me from bestbuy the compaq x1050 deal. However I came back and realized that they sold her an open box item with the inspected by bestbuy tape sealing it but they did not give her the discount. Is there anyway I can get an adjustment?

I am just angry because they made us paid extra $50 becuz the previous buyer got suckered into paying $30 + $20 for norton av installed on it. She bought it as the last one in stock.

Anyone know what I can do or say? I am going back to the store tomorwo to confront a manager. Thanks in advance.

Do the same thing they did. Bend her over and stick it to her.

Er shouldn't u be preparing for the return of ur woman to bitch at u?
Better than worrying about handling your mom.

Try speaking politely first...and take photocopies of all the documentation, as well as the originals. If they insist on taking some of the documentation to a "manager" in the back, give them the copy, not the original.

You can cross your fingers and and pray, that's about it. They are not obligated to discount display merchandise though they do it normally. Once she paid and left the store, they can flat out refuse to do anything. If I were you I'd bring the laptop with everything ready to return. If they see you are serious about return, they'll do something. Talk to the manager, not the sales person.

Well if it was a return doesn't that make it count as open box? If so isn't it bestbuy's policy to take 10% off?

just so you know, often times that "inspected by..." tape means that the box has some physical damage on it from the truck it came in on. it's not "technically" an open box item because it hasn't been returned or gone out of program. it's still brand new, and hey, they even checked it to make sure it works.

go talk to a manager though, they'll probably kick the 10% off...assuming they don't have anymore in stock. Usually when you get a box that has the "inspected by" tape on it, it's the last one. or the person getting it for your mom was just a jerk and grabbed that one.

The reason that tape was there is because They probely did a setup for your Mother.

They opened it up, Registered The Machine and Verified that It Worked, Reboxed it and Gave it too your mother to take Home.

Best buy Calls this a computer Setup. They get paid by the MFG for this "Service"

The real reson they doo it is too cut down on returned Merchandise.

Ex.... they Dont want you taking home a DOA unit.

Just Ask the manager For A 10% redux nicely, But Be prepared to return. If YOu didnt Purchase a Extended Warranty they May Try to Bundle That it for YOu at no additional Cost.

Is there a ( usually yellow) scan tag which states "OPEN BOX" on it? If not, they simply opened up the notebook computer to inspect it and make sure it was in running condition before leaving, and then suckered your mom into buying NAV. :p

Then they reseal the box with 'Inspected By Best Buy' tape and sent her off. They likely did nothing wrong.
