A change in diet is in order here.

I highly recommend LeChat

It's full of vitamins and minerals and it will give your dog a work once you take it out of the packaging.

Let us know how it went.

Take him to the vet, he needs a checkup and a good cleaning. Expect them to say some teeth need to be pulled.

After that you should brush his teeth at least once a week, and only use the finger brush to get him used to brushing since it doesn't do as good of a job. Buy a brush kit from your vet or pet store, put a bit of paste on you finger and let him get a taste of it. After that use the paste on your finger and brush his teeth as often as you can until he gets used to it, then use the finger brush to get him accustom to bristles, and finally step upto the brush. DO NOT USE A HUMAN BRUSH! Even the soft ones are too stiff for the dogs mouth, you will scratch his gums.

Get the C.E.T chews Monk3y talked about, they work great. Greenies don't do squat and can block your dogs intestines. If anyone is using them, STOP, I have seen dogs die from them. Your vet can also get a sort of mouth wash that I think C.E.T also makes that you put in the dogs water, it's cheap, safe and works wonders.

At the VERY least you should get the chews and rinse, a nasty mouth can also have bad effects on the liver and other parts of the dog. Your vet can tell you more.

Agreed.....whatever you do, do NOT give your dog greenies (or the similar imitations). I don't know how they can still be selling that garbage, and for the price they sell it for. You'll be playing russian roulette with your dog's life.
