You're not understanding what I'm saying. I said if they put out a turd version of one of their popular products (as in, broad mass-market appeal)... like an iPhone, iPod, or iPad... people would still queue up to buy it. Apple TV is not a popular product.
Yet Apple TV doesn't sell well at all. So I guess they can't release just anything and have people buying it in droves. And I dunno, I'd say ATV was better than a polished turd. So if they can't sell ATV's well, I somehow doubt they could sell a polished turd. They can however sell a lot of an excellent product like the iPhone or MBA. Lord knows if either had been released by Samsung and were Android products they'd get all the praise in the world.
what about the new ipod nano? i have only seen one person with it so far
they made a Mac Cube a few years back and it sold so bad that they killed it right away and turned it into the Mac Mini.
Exactly, Apple MP3 players have had declining sales for years, it's opined that it's because so many have just purchased an iPhone instead of an iPod. There's plenty of room for Apple to screw up, it's not a slam dunk that everything they make will sell.
FWIW, I have a Nano, and wear it as a watch and put podcasts on it, as well as photographs. In my workplace, we're not supposed to carry phones, although we all do, I bought it partly as a "f**k you" to my boss, she's so goddamn ignorant she banned phones, and can't manage to leave me a flipping voicemail for mission critical stuff on my days off.
The Nano watch gets a ton of attention, I love it.
If Apple releases an iPhone 5 in 2012, they'll own the year. It won't take a bigger screen or LTE, just a phone release. Hell, even if they don't release a phone this year come December 2012 the top 3 handsets sold will still belong to them.
Apple could release polished turd after polished turd and people would queue up around the block for it... every time.
