What can a PC do?

I mean, after playing with it for a while, I got tired of it.
Besides of wordprocessing, gaming, internet browsing, DVD movie playback, Web design, cd/mp3 music, what can a PC do? boring..

Well - here's a few more ideas to throw around.

* Coding (in all its forms & variatons).
* Adminning / Remote administration (Look servers).
* Servers can be quite a lot of fun to play with, if you have the luxury to work for a company.
Buying the blighters just to play with them definately hints towards having more money than
sense.
* Databases / Data mining, etc.
* Help find a cure for cancer / HIV (Think SETI, but medical purposes).
* etc. etc.

The question is WHAT do you want to do? Once you know what you want to do, we can think about how much of that is possible .

Also, you can do video editing, watching TV!
Let me see.. you can kick it when you get fristrated. I punch my keyboard frequently.
what else, photo album? You can broadcast your voice or make your own radio station via internet. You can get PC to watch the house.. with a webcam, ot with expensive surveilence system.

Computers are NOT for everyone that's a given. However, the time is nearing where people will HAVE to know computers in-order to get anything done... Heck, there may be a time when everyone will have to know basketball to get anything done? It could happen, but i doubt it... ROFL!

Don't feel bad or silly cause computers just weren't for you. Chances are your interests have nothing to do with computers. Many of us make a living off computers = repair, maint, software, admin, etc... So it makes sense we continue to debate/discuss improvements or trends on a daily basis.

You think computers are boring, how about AOL disks = useless right?

If your really that bored with it just put a trojan on some of your friends computer and drive em crazy with it =) I do that to my friends when I get bored it' funny as hell when they q me and are like dude I need you to fix my comp, my cd-rom keeps opening and closing on it's own =)

Internet chat - text and voice to people all over the world... I've just hooked up a microphone and it's great fun! Get a good role play game... ATI AIW Radeon for digital VCR and TV tuner... Rip CDs to MP3 for great jukebox, CD burner to make 'backups', databases - CD collections etc. Art and photography. If you're not a geek then you need consumer toys... Scanner, Digital camera/camcorder/webcam, afformentioned AIW card and burner, firewire? Decent controller for games. But a PC will never keep a sports person happy for hours on end!

Something that is unavoidable is that pretty soon computers will be merged with every appliance in the house, your home will become a network of computer controlled devices.

The hoover will automatically hoover at a certain time on a certain day..

In the living room will be the main control console that is also the tv, phone etc...

I can see it now......could get worrying if they turn evil and the hoover sucks all the money out of your wallet and then the fridge attacks you.

So love computers or not...they're here to stay

What can a car do? um, drive. Yet they still have a niche hardcore audience as well. To some people it doesn't matter what machine can do, it's the strife and challenge of making it do what it does really well.

u left out tweaking and overclocking, then doing stability tests to make sure its stable, or it doesn't count! when your really bored you can also run benchmarks and try to compete w/ other scores on similiar systems, and one major thing is MORE GAMES! ^_^

Here some more ideas:

1) get a tv tuner or all-in-wonder card: you can watch tv, use it like a recorder to tape shows you will miss, capture clips and pictures from shows and movies. With vivo you can copy from vcrs, camcorders, etc. make digital copies which can be stored on cd's are made into movies you can email to friends and family.

2)since you have a dvd player (rip and copy dvds, play with divx encoding)**illegal ofcourse unless you own the copy**

3) get a program like laplink, stay home and telecommute...run your work computer from home...I like it, and I have...can make life easier

4) get some cadd or 3d graphics programs and design and draw, then animate...learn a skill!!!

I like the idea of using it as a security terminal as well...

Actually there are so many things I want to do that I can't fit into my schedule...
