What cables do I need to buy?

Hi again, incase you haven't read one of my other posts, the rig I'm getting is going to include one of the ASUS deluxe SLI motherboards, a dual core 4400+, 2 gigs of ram, one 7800 GTX (but will probably get one more later), a sb audigy 2 zs, and raptor 74 gig to name the major components.

My question is this: when I buy all these components separately as to build a complete system, which cables will I need to buy separately? I'm especially concerned about the SATA and PCIE cables, do these typically come with either the motherboard or graphic card/hdd respectively? If so, are the stock cables fine or should I definitely consider getting separate higher quality ones? Are there other cables I should remember to get?

I've never really put a computer together myself from scratch, I've only messed around inside of the last two custom computers I bought, a bit with upgrading, a bit with fixing etc. I think it will be a fun project though.

Most PCIe graphics cards come with a PCIe power adapter (in case your PSU doesn't have the right plug). The manufacturer's website should say what comes with the card. If it doesn't come with one, you should be able to get one at most computer stores (I find CompUSA usually has a pretty good selection of this sort of stuff, at least the ones that have a repair facility in the store).

Most SATA hard drives do *not* come with SATA cables, but most motherboards that support SATA include a couple. The hard drives may include power adapters if they only take the new SATA power plug. Again, most computer stores will stock these parts.

You shouldn't need anything else; the only thing most components plug into is the PSU or the motherboard.

Ah, lovely, thank you for the detailed response. I'm not so concerned about power adapters because I'll be getting a PSU that is SLI and SATA ready and of what I've seen you dont' need an adaptor for PSUs with that, but thanks for the heads up.

I actually have a comp USA here somewhere and I'm pretty sure they have cables just like you said, so if it turns out I'm missing a cable or two I can just go there, like you said.

Thanks!
