You need an 80 wire flat Ultra ATA IDE ribbon cable. These differ from your normal IDE ribbon cables not only buy having twice the amount of wires but in the fact that they have different colored connectors on them. Blue, black and grey... or motherboard, master and slave drive connections. They are also higher priced... about 10 times the cost... but considering that an IDE cable is about 50c, I wouldn't worry too much about cost.

What? I do not believe any type of DVD drive works in ata66 or ata100 mode as of yet. So therefore a regular 40 conductor ata33 cable would work.

LOL... mine is... it is a Pioneer slot loading DVD-A06SZ. It is Ultra DMA66. If you would like more info. on it... look up Pioneers web site. ;)
Buy the way... it works like a charm, I only bought the thing 2 weeks ago and I love it. Very fast!

I think even though your DVD Rom has UDMA 66, it doesn't mean that the transfer rate will be at 66. Regular ide cable should be enough. Trust me on this cause I did try with the UDMA cable and it gives me the same as when you use the ide regular cable.

Well... it is more than twice as fast as the CD rom I replaced it with and it was ATA33. Also... why would Pioneer supply an 80 wire cable at higher cost to them if it only needed a normal IDE cable? Doesn't make sense. I have done several CD speed checks through Nero speed check and it goes to about 20x and beyond.

ASUS also has ATA-66 DVD. From my own experience, even the DVD won't reach the transfer limit of ATA-33, using ATA-66 interface still gives me better transfer speed.
